If your skin is prone to dryness and patchiness, applying makeup might not help matters. In fact, powders, foundations and concealer can make dry skin look even flakier, highlighting the areas of your skin that suffer even more.

The problem is that make up will only look as hydrated as the skin underneath, which means you need a properly moisturised base before you start applying your cosmetics.

Gently scrubbing areas prone to dryness, like around the nose and the crease of the chin, with a washcloth every day, or use a good quality exfoliator.
