One of our favourite ever natural skincare ingredients is aloe vera. This is a super product aiding anything from dry skin to hair growth. Thanks to Beauty Munsta, we look at some of the many benefits:
1. Aloe vera gel for acne:
Aloe vera gel is non-comedogenic, meaning it does not clog pores and acts as a good moisturizer and hydrator for acne-prone skin.
2. Cleanses skin
Looking for a good cleanser? Buy one with aloe vera gel as one of its main ingredients. Or make your own aloe face cleanser with natural ingredients!
3. Tones the skin
Toning the skin is one of the most overlooked steps in skin care. But if you’re looking for beautiful, healthy skin, toning has to feature in your beauty regime. Aloe vera gel acts as an astringent which helps tighten pores and smoothen the skin.
4. Promotes healthy hair growth
Applying aloe vera gel directly on to the scalp helps hydrate hair follicles, repair damaged hair follicles and stimulate hair growth. Mix aloe vera gel with essential oils for hair growth for extra hair boosting effects!
5. Reduces thinning hair and balding
Thinning hair and excessive hair fall can all be arrested with aloe vera gel. According to Eastern traditions, sometimes hair fall is caused due to a build-up of surplus body heat. Aloe vera gel is naturally cooling and when applied onto the head can help neutralize heat and prevent hair fall.
6. Treats dandruff
Dandruff is a scalp condition where the skin cells turn over rapidly, become dry and start flaking. It can also be accompanied by itching, bleeding and scabbing. Aloe vera gel is a wonderful natural remedy that heals scalp wounds, moisturizes the scalp and treats dandruff.
7. Soothes inflammation
Aloe vera gel has powerful anti-inflammatory compounds that help reduce swelling, inflammation, redness and rashes on the skin. This makes it a great remedy for ailments such as eczema, rosacea, psoriasis and persistent acne/pimples.
8. Heals dry skin
Got dry skin or even dry, cracked feet? Aloe vera can help! Make a dry skin lotion using ¼ cup of raw shea butter, ¼ cup of aloe vera gel, 4 drops of lavender essential oil and 4 drops of frankincense essential oil. Apply this onto dry skin areas. It will help hydrate the dry skin, moisturize it and seal it to prevent water loss.
9. Soothes chapped lips
Chapped lips can be painful and unattractive. Chapsticks can actually make dry lips worse so stay away from conventional products and use natural remedies like aloe vera, shea butter, cocoa butter and coconut oil to heal your lips and keep them supple and moisturized.
