Why you should use tinted moisturiser

When we were teenagers, we thought the more makeup we trowelled on our faces the better. We’d have heavy foundations that were the wrong tone, powdery concealers covering spots, heavily applied mascara – it was a look that screamed ‘teenager’.

But we’re not teenagers anymore, and it wasn’t even a particularly good look. As we got older, we realised that full coverage wasn’t necessary. What is good is  foundation that enhances what we already have and hides the bits we don’t want showing. So hello, cheekbones and smooth nose and goodbye dark circles under eyes and spotty chin.

A good foundation is the keystone of an effective makeup bag. But while great in winter, a lot of people hate wearing it in summer. The heat, sweat and dust combine to take its toll on the complexion. So what’s the alternative? A good tinted moisturiser of course!

This is the combination of a foundation and day cream – it moisturisers without being greasy, and it enhances and hides all the bits we want enhancing and hiding.

There are lots of really good tinted moisturisers on the market. We recommend you wait til summer before trying a couple, but if you’re planning on going anywhere warm over the next few months, do some research and take a tube. Guinot Crème Hydra Finish – this product is rich in mucilage, and its mallow extract has exceptional hydrating and emollient properties, soothing and moisturising the skin. It enhances the complexion and protects the skin from UV rays.

La Biosthetique Hydro-Actif Traitement Teint Clair – this is a little lighter than the Guinot cream but a wonderful product. The cell-active hydroboost active ingredient is made from a complex of malic acid, pectin and a cell boost factor which supplies the skin with moisture and acts like a moisture reservoir.

On top of this, the marine plankton polysaccharides refine the pores, calm the overall complexion and magically give you a fresh appearance.
