Why you should be putting marsh mallow on your skin
They’re certainly one of our favourite sweet snacks, but marsh mallow – or rather the nutrient filled root of the marsh mallow plant – is actually amazing for the skin.
According to Byrdie, the roots of the marsh mallow plant contain a thick, gummy substance called mucilage. The mucilage is extracted from the root and used for medicinal purposes. In addition to mucilage, the root extract contains a number of other ingredients that promote skin health, such as polysaccharides and flavonoids. In fact, marsh mallow root extract (MRE) has been used in folk medicine for a long time to, “relieve irritation or inflammation of the gastrointestinal and respiratory tract, or to soothe the skin.”
When it comes to skincare benefits, the standout ingredient has evolved. Traditionally, MRE has been used to treat skin burns and insect bites. But as scientific studies have determined that MRE possesses antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory effects, the clinical uses of MRE have expanded.

How to use:
Apply a generous amount of Firming Mask to the face (include eye area), neck and, if necessary, décolleté once or twice a week. Remove after 20 minutes with a warm, damp cloth. For optimum skin care results, we recommend deep cleansing with Clarifying Steam Bath and Clarifying Clay Mask prior to use.
