Does your day cream contain hyaluronic acid?
This ingredient might sound aggressive and scary, but it’s one of the most natural – and best – ingredients you can put in a face cream. If your cream is lacking in hyaluronic acid, it might be a good idea to switch to one that does and see the difference.
Hyaluronic acid has many benefits and as well as being produced synthetically, it is also found in the body where it secures moisture and creates fullness. During our youth, our body makes plentiful amounts of this, and as we age that production flow decreases – which is one of the contributing factors to the ageing process. You can even take hyaluronic acid supplements!
However, you can get outside hyaluronic acid sources – and it’s one incgredient that is being picked up by many cosmeticists and skin care manufacturers. It has huge value in how our skin behaves and holds on to moisture and suppleness.
And as we get older, and the hyaluronic acid production slows down, this corresponds with our skin moisture dropping massively. This ends up making our skin look looser and lack elasticity. Hyaluronic acid plays a critical role in skin health with its unique ability to hold in moisture (1000 ml of water per gram of hyaluronic acid).
This wonderful ingredient also acts as a “smart nutrient” – which means that is can cleverly adjust its moisture absorption rate based on the humidity—relative to the season and the climate.
This is great for hot countries where using a moisturizer can make your skin look oily and slick. It works great in cold countries where the climates and going from very cold temperatures outside to indoor warmth can really dry and chap skin.
Have a look on your moisturiser’s label and see what it does contain. If it’s not on there, we heartily recommend investing in a day cream with hyaluronic acid – the results may be radical and we’d love to hear your feedback!
