But really, the best way to score calcium with the least risk of constipation is to get it from foods like low-fat dairy and fortified OJ, says Sonpal.

There are also plenty of plant-based foods that offer stacks of calcium and other nutrients which are vital to a healthy pregnancy. Foods like sesame seeds, leafy greens, figs, oranges, rhubarb and tofu have great levels of calcium – as well as other vitamins and minerals – which will give all of the health kick without any unwanted side effects.
